Chile lies of the Andes from the desert in the north to the Antarctic in the south. In the middle are fertile valleys where the wine regions can be found. The wines of this country are probably the most prominent of the South American wines.
The wines of Chile have improved considerably since the 1990s and there are now some quality products. Among the many wines produced are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
The Chilean wine regions are Aconcagua, Bio-Bio (Mainly local jug wines), Casablanca, Colchagua, Curico Valley, Itata, Maipo, Maule, Rapel and Santiago.
